"The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. The fundamental way we fulfill our mission is to reach out to people in the name of Jesus Christ, to relate people to God, to nurture and strengthen them in their journey of discipleship, and to send them into the world to be the church – inviting and receiving others in the name of Jesus Christ. We call this the primary task of The United Methodist Church."
This is a quote from “Missions – Reaching the World”, which is the book of guidelines for mission leadership in our church. The general philosophy is that a church is only as strong as it’s missions, and without missions, there is no church. The Service Ministry Team, which includes missions, firmly believes in this philosophy for all service activities.
Based on the scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself”,
our mission is to get believers into service, both within and beyond the congregation.
When we joined the church, we vowed to “….be loyal to The United
Methodist Church, and do all in our power to strengthen its ministries.” Each
time a new member joins our church, you renew your covenant verbally. There
are many, diverse talents within our congregation, and our goal is to apply
as many of these talents as possible to help others, and in doing so, bring
them closer to Christ.
God has given every Christian spiritual gifts for doing the work of the ministry in everyday life and through the church. When we identify and exercise our God-given spiritual gifts, we maximize our fulfillment with minimize frustration. First Church members can take the Spiritual Gifts Analysis online.
"Our purpose is to encourage women to come together in a viable fellowship, to witness to our faith in Jesus Christ, and together, enable by His Spirit, to go into all neighborhoods and nations as instruments of His reconciling love."

Other ministries supported by our church and which fall within the domain of the Service Ministry Team, include:
The Service Ministry Team meets on the first Thursday of each month. We discuss each of these missions/ministries at every meeting, and have a calendar of events and budget planned for the entire year. We add new ministries as often as new ideas develop and we plan to expand the missions area to include support of missionaries who are doing God’s work in foreign lands. We also plan to grow our support of local and national ministries, which are doing God’s work at home. We encourage all of our members to gain the joy and privilege of joining God in his work in earth. Join us…ordinary people doing extraordinary work with God’s help!
The Service and Missions Ministry Team invites you to attend our meetings. We are always seeking new members to support current ministries or start new ministries.
